Prof Dr. Piet Van Avermaet is Director of the Centre for Diversity and Learning at the University of Ghent, Belgium. He teaches Multicultural Studies at the same university. His expertise and research interests are: diversity and social inequality in education, educational linguistics, multilingual and multicultural education, language and integration of immigrants, sociolinguistics and language testing. He worked for many years at the Centre for Language and Education at the University of Leuven, where he was coordinator of the Certificate Dutch as a Foreign Language (CNaVT).
